Workshop Description

Engineering & Design Recommended Ages 7–12 In this hands-on workshop, we'll become inventors as we design, build and test our very own working candy dispensing machine! LET'S WONDER How can a simple machine release sweets? What makes a mechanism move? What sort of mechanisms can we use? LET'S CREATE Using cardboard, simple mechanisms and plenty of imagination, we'll build our own working candy dispensing machine before customising it with our own creative designs. LET'S TEST It's time to put our inventions to the test! We'll fill our machines with sweets, push the handle and see how well our dispensing mechanism works. LET'S EXPLORE We'll discover: How simple mechanisms create movement. How turning one part can make another part move. How inventors improve their ideas through testing and redesigning. LET'S REFLECT We'll compare our inventions, celebrate different ideas and think about what we'd improve next time before taking home a working candy machine to enjoy and show off.
