Balloon Powered Racers
Wednesday 29 July 2:00pm - 3:30pm
Workshop Description
Engineering & Design Recommended Ages 7–12 We're kicking things off with a Balloon-Powered Car Challenge, a hands-on session where creativity meets curiosity. Designed for curious minds, our Balloon-Powered Car Challenge is all about asking questions, getting hands-on and discovering what works. LET'S WONDER How can a balloon make a car move? What makes a car travel faster? Do you think bigger wheels will make a difference? What about a lighter or heavier frame? LET'S CREATE Using recycled materials and plenty of imagination, we'll build our own unique balloon-powered cars. LET'S TEST Ready... set... race! We'll put our designs to the test and see how they perform. LET’S EXPLORE We'll become real inventors by investigating questions like: • Does more air in the balloon make the car travel further? • Do bigger wheels make a difference? • How does the weight of the car affect its speed and distance? • How can we improve the grip of the wheels? LET'S REFLECT We'll share our discoveries, celebrate different ideas, and think about what we'd change next time. We can't wait to start creating, exploring and discovering with you! Please note that participants will be asked to bring along recycled materials such as bottle caps and old wheels.
